Going for a bath in Varberg

A winter sunset in the coast of Varberg

The Varberg seaside has more than it’s ancient Fortress. On a visit to this west coastal city of Sweden I found a highlighted spot for nude bathing.

It was my second visit to Varberg.

I was here on a sunny day in the spring of 2009 and then I had time for a quick walk thought the city Fortress.

As the Fortress is standing on a cliff by the North Sea, I decided to start my journey from then towards the seaside.

I took my camera and walked by the pedestrian path and eventually got more than I was expecting.

And as everywhere in Sweden, everything was ruled.

From where to walk, what to do and what is forbidden, inhabitants and visitors are always aware of the expected behaviour.

But what impressed me the most was a hint for those women fond of nude bathing.

A big blue sign identifies the place.

Indeed it is a secure spot protected from snoopy eyes.

Today the beach was almost empty – and frozen. Thus a bit of patience is needed to wait for the summer to probe the potential of this natural facility.

Interestingly there is another nude facility. Quite far from the female this one is set for the gents.

These installations gave me a hint of what Swedish are fond of when it comes to enjoy its coast.

Eventually I reached the ultimate pleasure for those keen to washup in fresh crystal waters.

Kallbadhuset or cold bath house is a wooden building that stands offshore in front of the city Fortress.

Inside Kallbadhuset an open-air pool offers the unique experience of bathing in really cold waters.

Guess whether I tried it or not.
